TSIO 550 FUEL SET UP

SECRET STUFF
-
Set Low Fuel Press at 600 RPM to 7-9 psi.
(hex screw- in to increase)
-
Set Idle RPM/Mixture
-
SLOWLY Run to Full throttle. Note RPM
and MP.
-
Cowling should be on and secure for best
cooling.
-
Brakes will not hold by themselves.
Chocks on all wheels, people on wingtips, all help.
-
Shut down & set RPM 2700 and MP to 38
(E’s 38.5) inches. MP must be EXACT to continue setup.
-
Adjust setscrew in bottom of turbo
controller to adjust MP. About 1/16th turn gives 1" MP
change. In is more.
-
Run Up. When MP and RPM are right on –
Note FP and FF at Full Throttle.
-
Set FP (32-36psi) on the aneroid
chamber. Adjust screw may have slot on end but will have
hole in shaft. Use small allen wrench or small pop
rivet. Note that the adjustment is out to increase.
Approximately ¼ turn is 1 psi. (See Note Below- re;
level)
-
Super secret----- Tap on top of aneroid
chamber---Lightly--- to reseat internal needle position
after ANY adjustments.
-
Run again—check FP. If the FUEL FLOW is
within limits (41.7-43.4 GPH for all Lancairs with TSIO
550's )- and FP is reasonably within limits, you’re
done.
Remember that FLOW is the primary
consideration—FP is the adjustment to achieve the Fuel Flow.
If necessary, (to check questionable FF)--
Measure calibrated FP at the Flow Divider with a calibrated
gage -set level with divider.
Note; For FP indication to be accurate –
Pressure transducer must be LEVEL with Flow divider and pick
up point.
Remember; All throttle movements should be
SLOW. Up and down, except in dire emergency.
